This is the story of naturalist Aron Ralston, who in 2003 had to amputate his right forearm after becoming trapped by a boulder. Today, he had to go back into the canyon where he was stranded and get the arm so that it could be taken away for burial. Aron's will-power helped him survive, but this didn't mean he was happy about what happened. This is a story of how one man came out on top of adversity through his own efforts in spite of extreme circumstances. This inspiring true story will inspire you in many ways. The incredible journey of Aron Ralston is one that every man should see. His courage, determination and sense of adventure is truly inspirational. Aron Ralston, born Sunshine but called Ron by his parents, was raised in the suburbs of Salt Lake City. During his childhood, his family moved to different locations around the state due to his father's work as a geologist. His mother worked as an educator at the local middle school that Aron attended. At school he enjoyed sports and even had some athletic abilities; however, he had no interest in learning at school due to the fact that he found it boring and mundane. As he grew up, this trend blossomed into something worse as he developed a very strong dislike for the school and all the rules and regulations that were imposed on children. However, Aron managed to pass his 11th grade exams and enrolled at Utah State University (USU) in Orem. He joined the student body, lived in Kissimmee with his family and had a very close relationship with his father who was supportive of him getting an education. It didn't take long before Aron dropped out of school after three years due to differences with his father about college vs. working instead of getting an education. For a while he worked as a handyman for a friend of the family and then he started his own business called Ralston Construction. Most of Aron's clients were his father's contacts and were based in the university town of Logan, Utah where Aron came to spend most of his time. In 1993, Aron proposed to his girlfriend Kristi and they married soon after. In 1994, they began having difficulties due to Aron's reluctance to be put under the same authority as Kristi had been raised with by her father. This resulted in their divorce and Aron moved out for good and relocated to Moab. Aron's dislike for authority and acceptance of social norms grew along with his interest in the outdoors and nature. He spent most of his time alone travelling around the state, climbing mountains or visiting remote places. His interest in climbing peaked one day when he was out hiking with his friends, one of whom also happens to be a climber. They went up this small mountain located outside Moab called The Castle. Aron found it really interesting to climb up difficult terrain using just your hands, something that he had never done before. He then started combining these climbs with other activities such as running or desert explorations, thus opening a whole new world for him. cfa1e77820
